Diabetes & Foot care

For diabetics, foot health is even more important to prevent major foot problems from happening. People with diabetes should examine their feet daily because problems can develop quickly. Look for redness, swelling, breaks in the skin e.g. cuts or scratches, blisters and hot or cold spots. Contact your General Practitioner or registered Podiatrist if any of the above are present.

If you have diabetes, you are at risk of getting a foot ulcer; particularly when diabetes has resulted in a loss of sensation in your feet. This is because the nerve and blood vessel damage inhibits the feeling of pain. As a result you are more like to get an injury and less likely to get help for an early injury. Foot ulcers caused by poor fitting shoes is the most common problem faced by diabetics therefore it is important to have shoes that fit well and prevent foot problems.

Ziera offers shoe styles which are specially designed to provide comfort and fit for diabetics. With soft breathable leathers and soft cushioned comfort underfoot, your feet are safely protected and prevented from developing foot problems.  We work closely with Podiatrists to ensure our styles are suitable to the needs of customers who require more support and fit.
